Youth Cricket @ C&EE

Club MarkC&EE holds the prestigious Club Mark accreditation which is reviewed every three years to ensure that clubs are following best practice in their coaching of young players.

Our youth coaching team is led by Colin Perkins.

Match Play U16

This is an Essex wide competition that attracts the strongest junior players. The team competes in a group format before progressing to a knock out stage. The team is managed by Tim Spelling assisted by Andy Mayes.

Age Group Cricket

C&EE enter teams at all age groups in the North Essex Youth cricket competition. The respective managers are shown in the table below with Neil Thomas taking overall responsibility. Normally the team managers move up through the ages with the players so they get to know each other.

Kwik Cricket

In line with ECB guidelines hard ball cricket starts at U11 and before that soft ball 'Kwik Cricket' is used to teach the basic skills in a fun way that involves all the players. Steve Green is running the Quick Cricket section this year.

Joining C&EE Youth Section

Any prospective new members should contact the relevant team manager below to check on availability but we are normally open to new members especially at the younger age groups.

Junior membership of the club costs £40 a year and includes all the coaching and practice sessions plus games for those selected. The club is able to provide cricket kit including all the necessary protection for batsmen so new members just need regular sports equipment.

June 2011Mike WrathallMike has been described as a "gun" due to his explosive batting style and a score of 96 for the U14's bears testimony to this. Mike is no mean slouch with the ball either and with his excellent seam bowling he is also turning into a top quality all rounder. Mike has also been selected for the Matchplay team and has stepped up to Sunday 2nd's.

May 2011Joe ChesterAlready proving to be a talented performer with his own age group Joe was asked along to Matchplay nets to see if he could be considered to be a squad member. This season Joe missed only one game and that was due only to him being unavailable. Joe stepped up too the mark with considerable ease with both bat and ball and with also displaying an excellent attitude and approach to the game he has proved to be a real asset to the team.
