-Colchester and East Essex Cricket Club is proud of its reputation for developing young cricketers and there are numerous players in our own senior sides and those of other clubs in the area who started their careers at Castle Park.

However, to some extent the club has become a victim of its own success and in certain age groups we have more players than we can hope to cater for. With only a handful of matches available in each age group, we feel we will be unable to offer competitive cricket to all our registered members. As a result, we will be selecting playing squads for each age group, and these players will be invited to register for the summer season for matches and training.

Due to the high standards shown by so many of our players, we know our age group managers are facing some very difficult decisions. Those not selected will be offered the chance to join other clubs in the Colchester area who may have vacancies in these age groups.

Members of the playing squads will be asked to pay a further fee of £15 to cover the cost of matches and training through the season.

COACHING for all age groups has now begun at Castle Park

For those aged Under 12 - Whether hard ball or Kwik cricketers - sessions take place on Sundays from 10am to 11.30am.

Under 13 and Under 15- Training takes place on Mondays from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Under 14- Training is on Fridays from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Under 16- Training is held from 5.30pm to 7pm on Thursdays.
